Hi, I am a Mom/Business Entrepreneur/Entertainer-Performer and I know for a fact that TV contributes to violent behavior. In 1996 I was introduced to a television network called The Peoples Network. This was a company of 65,000 viewers each of us buying a special satellite dish just for this one TV channel called TPN. At first all we had was TPN we got rid of the other channels and had just the TPN satellite dish showing only positive programs. The TV channel consisted of all success programming and produced valuable skills for life enhancement in family, business, finances, relationships,etc..and many other great programs. I have 2 children a boy and a girl who at the time in 1996 to 1998 were 9 and 10 years old. Now for those two years where my children were not subjected to any other kind of programming only positive successful programs. I saw a change in them. Their arguing came to almost a halt. Their physical pushing and shoving stopped. Their answering back to adults stopped. They became more positive about their life and life itself. They were very motivated and uplifted. Of course, something as positive as this TV channel was going to be attacked or snapped up, what every way you want to look at it the TV channel got bought out and now doesn't exist. The idea at the beginning of this great plan was to change one TV at a time. Well, it was sold as they wanted to grow quicker, of course that back fired and so the TPN became part of Primestar which is now Direct TV and now TPN doesn't even exist anymore. So we are back where we started the kids watching violence and all other abusive TV as comedy nowadays is hurtful..attacking each other in a very sarcastic suppose-to-be humourous way. I guess I should cut out all their TV. But, what good would that do..they would go to their friends houses and watch it. I really and truly believe that TV does enhance violent behavior. Even tho' everyone doesn't act on it. Violent Movies and TV Programs still program us! My childrens behavior reflects the TV definitely. In fact, I believe the TV reflects adults behavior too. If you are subjected to continuous programming whether positive or negative it definitely will show up in your life. This VOV site is great and I am proud to be a citizen helping to promote
non-violence. Thank you for this wonderful site. Reavell Orr, Santa Barbara
